Even a 1 segment dragon kills most basic enemies pretty quick (I do this because they use different AIs, plus a dragon is great for killing things off screen).Īs for boss fights I prefer cells simply because numbers. This will keep you safer and spread your minions out more.

The actual safest/fastest way to farm is 1 dragon and the rest cells. Cells tend to spread out vs mobs thus kill enemies faster because they attack more enemies at a time. summoner really seems like a class that the other classes might switch to for convenience when digging or building, but not really a class that i would seriously consider for a boss fight. Just one question: why should cells be better for fighting mobs? i mean a fully summoned dragon can kill almost everything in 1 second maximum, mostly rather 0.1 seconds.Īnd you seem to have a lot of experience with summoner, have you ever played other classes? cause i have played them all, mainly play melee by now (because of reasons of playstyle, not power), and literally all other classes surpass summoner by far when it comes to boss fights. For general exploration purposes, a mix is best since then your dragon can hit enemies behind walls without leaving you open to enemies that sneak up on you.įirst useful thing i read in this entire thread. As someone who has 105 hours on his summoner character post-1.3, Dragon is better for bosses, while Cells are better for fighting hordes of enemies. If you're having trouble deciding just look at your main weapon and if it's piercing, go with Cells, if it isn't then go with Dragon. Dragon does slightly more DPS with just 1-2 summons than the Cells do, but it's hardly noticeable and it'll block piercing weapons as mentioned. Nebula Blaze also works decently well, but most summoner builds won't have enough mana to be able to sustain magic weapons for very long.ĮDIT: Just realized you never specified that you were playing a dedicated summoner if you're a different class and just want a couple summons to supplement you, then it doesn't really matter. Because of that I'd recommend either a gun with non-piercing ammo or Daybreak as your secondary weapon. Just be warned that Dragon is not a team player, as when he's attacking a boss it'll become invulnerable to all piercing weapons you use.
